The crawl before the walk - First shoes

Now Kai is 1 he will soon be walking and I can't wait. I couldn't with Kels and I can't with Kai. Although my favourite moment is the first few weeks with all the cuddles - without a struggle - the kisses and of course bonding but what excites me more is the milestones they will begin to make and create.

Looking back on when Kels was Kai's age I can't remember her first shoes. I do remember though that they weren't from Clark's like most mums I know go to for first shoes. It was a time when money was tight and the £20+ price tag couldn't be justified as to why on a pair of really tiny shoes that in my opinion they wouldn't really wear for any longer than 5 minutes - hypothetically of course.

Fast forward to 3 years later and we are in a comfortable position were we can afford that little bit more. After walking past Clark's for numerous amount of weeks a pair eventually caught my eye and right their the price tag didn't matter to me. And although I said that when Kels was his age the price couldn't be justified, this time was different. We are in a better position and I wanted to see what the fuss was all about.
We went in, feet got measured and I'm new to the whole baby sizing but Kai is a 2H - whatever that means. The original pair we liked was not available in his size so instead we went for a nice brown pair. Cruisers they are called and happen to be before they walk. So these are the shoes before the proper ones but  nevertheless they are just too cute and adorable.

Don't you agree?

  3. Hi, I just got my daughters first shoes, she is a 2 1/2 H and we only had two options, one from the girls selection which did not fit her very well and one from the boys, so she now has the same shoes as your son! LOL at least they are neuteral. But have looked at the larger sizes in that width and there is not many other options either. I think someone else needs to sell kids shoes like clarks, but ones that are nicer and have more options.
